Natural wonders, both big and small are plentiful at Saluda Shoals Park. Another great wonder at the park is the endless opportunity for community involvement. The park benefits daily from the countless hours of its many volunteers. Volunteers are a significant force in making Saluda Shoals Park a place to remember, a place to showcase community pride. Civic minded school and church groups are always welcome.
Volunteers have assisted in building a Bluebird Trail at Saluda Shoals Park. Data from the bluebird nesting boxes is recorded by volunteers and becomes part of a national database. Data collected from the nesting boxes will help ornithologists better understand the natural history of bluebirds.
A short list of volunteer opportunities include:
Special Event Volunteers: Blood Moon on the River, Holiday Lights, Earth Fair
Bluebird Box Monitors: Walk a mile or two every week and record nesting activity
Park Maintenance: Help the Park Rangers with a variety of park tasks
River Sweep: Annual trash removal from the Saluda River
Photographer: Document wildflowers, seasonal changes and visitor activity
