Ranger Blog

Welcome to the Park Ranger Blog! Each entry will have great insider info into the happenings at Saluda Park. We will post photos and share information about recent wildlife sightings as often as possible. If you have information or photos you wish to share, send them on via the links at the bottom of the page. We hope you check back often to see the latest installments…of the RANGER BLOG!

Lately, the river has been through lots of ups and downs. Record high water in the Saluda brought some really unique ranger patrols. Usually the rangers patrol the park trails using bicycles and the John Deer Gator. However, with the river at flood stage, kayaks became the preferred mode of transport. Kayaking the Greenway Trail was an experience none of us will ever forget!

We are also really excited to see the Greenway Trail growing towards the new property which we are calling Saluda Shoals East. All that’s left to be built is the bridge! If you haven’t seen it yet – come and check it out. We are all itching to get over to the new property and explore the new trail.

On Friday, Jaunary 26th, two Rangers are going to the Windwalker School in Summerville, SC for survival training.  Check back next time for photos and information about the “Rule of Three.”

The rangers are also busy preparing for Earth Fair. It will be held on May 5th we look forward to having many of the same great activities and music that made it so popular in the past. We will keep you updated as our plans progress.

Here is a photo of two happy people last year enjoying the free bike demonstration put on by Outspokin Bicycles!
