Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission is dedicated to offering safe, accessible recreation and social support programs for seniors that enourage them to live happy, productive and independent lives. Our parks feature a wide variety of programs specifically designed for men and women ages 50 and older. Here are some examples of current programs:

Special Events & Luncheons

Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission hosts several events throughout the year targeting individuals ages 50 and older. Several luncheons are held that provide entertainment and community fellowship for seniors. Other events offer health and wellness opportunities for seniors of all ages and abilities. Below is a list of events and luncheons:

  • Pot of Gold Bingo Luncheon at Crooked Creek Park (March)
  • Senior Sports Games (Fall)
  • BINGO Brunch at Seven Oaks Park
  • Senior Picnic at Saluda Shoals Park
  • Spring Health Fair at Seven Oaks Park
  • Thanksgiving Luncheon at Crooked Creek Park (November)
  • Goodwill Holiday Brunch at Irmo High School (December)
  • Zumbathon for Meals on Wheels at Seven Oaks Park (October)

Travel & Excursions

Enjoy an adventure with the senior travelers! Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission trips are specifically designed for individuals ages 50 and older, but are open to anyone over age 18.  Anyone under 18 years must be approved by the Recreation Commission prior to registration. Register over the phone or at the front desk in Crooked Creek Park or Seven Oaks Park. All fees must be paid at the time of registration. Registration deadlines apply. Day Trips and Trail Hikes

Destinations include various attractions throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. Each trip is planned and supervised by Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission staff. Transportation is provided on an activity bus.

 

Overnight and Extended Trips

If you love to get out of town, then join us for some of our overnight or extended trips. Some overnight trips are provided directly by Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission, but some are offered through tour companies like Diamond Tours and Collette Vacations.
