Paddle Programs

Private Guided Kayak Trips

Book an exciting private guided river trip and see nature at its best. (For groups 5 or larger.) The trip last approximately three hours and includes a brief paddle instruction before launching the boats. Enjoy interpretation of the surrounding area along the way with a possible stop at Corley Island before arriving at the Lower Boat Ramp take out. Sunset on the Shoals - Paddle and Wine Tasting

Enjoy a interpretive paddle tour on the Saluda River followed by a wine tasting. Trip is dependent on weather and river levels. Boats and all necessary equipment are provided.

Paddle and Pint - Paddle and Craft Beer Tasting

Paddle the Lower Saluda River surrounded by beautiful scenery and wildlife. Enjoy the views, have fun, and meet new friends. After an hour on the water, sample delicious craft beers. Trip is dependent on weather and river levels. Boats and all necessary equipment are provided.

Kayak Rentals

Weather and river levels permitting. Boats will not be rented when the river is above 2,500 cfs.  

One (1) hour rental/$25. Available 9:00 a.m.– 4:00 p.m. (4:00 p.m. rental must be on the water by 4:00 p.m.)
Two (2) hour rental/$35. Available 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. (3:00 p.m. rental must be on the water by 3:00 p.m.)

Available Boats

  • Tandem Kayak (two person kayak)
  • Singe sit in Kayak
  • Single Sit on top Kayak (more stable option)

General Information

  • A paddle from the upper to lower boat ramp generally takes one hour depending on river conditions
  • For two (2) hour rentals it is recommended that paddlers explore upstream before heading to the
    lower boat ramp
  • All boat rental patrons are required to wear a US coastguard approved life jacket the entire time
    they are on the water. (life jackets are provided with rental)
  • Children must be at least five (5) years old for boat rentals
  • No pets are allowed on boat rentals
  • All boat rentals include shuttle service
  • Shuttle service is available for personal boats for $5/per boat
  • No alcohol is allowed on boats

Tube Rentals

$15/per tube. Includes shuttle service.  Available 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. (3:00 p.m. rental must be on the water by 3:00 p.m.) 

Weather and river levels permitting. Tubes will not be rented when the river is above 1,500 cfs.  

 General Information

  • All tube rentals are approximately two (2) hours depending on river conditions
  • All customers are required to wear a US coastguard approved life jacket the entire time they are on
    the water (life jackets are provided with rental)
  • Children must be at least five (5)  years old for tube rentals
  • No pets are allowed on tube rentals
  • No alcohol is allowed on tubes

Summer Camps

A variety of camps are offered at Saluda Shoals Park throughout the summer. The new camp guide will be out in April 2023. For further information call 803-213-2055. 

Guided Nature Walks

Take a walk through Saluda Shoal's many habitats and trails guided by a park ranger.  Learn about the unique plants and animals that call the park home.  Educational content can be adjusted to any age level.  Contact Zach Pensa at 803-213-2057 for more information.

Scout Workshops and Programs

Saluda Shoals Park offers workshops to help Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts learn about nature and earn badges. Several different programs are offered at each age group for both Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts that discuss plants, animals, and their environments.
