Safari After School/Full Day Programs

Afternoon Safari provides a safe and nurturing environment and offers a variety of opportunities for children to grow physically, socially and academically. This is accomplished through supervised, quality programs designed to encourage new interests, creativity, self-confidence and responsibility.

Afterschool Daily Program

Our afterschool daily program includes an afternoon snack, nutrition education, supervised homework time, and socially distanced recreation and organized physical activity. The children are grouped by age. Activities include arts & crafts, reading, character building exercises and organized games.  Afterschool is offered at the following locations: Ballentine Elementary, Chapin Elementary, Crooked Creek Park, Irmo Elementary, Lake Murray Elementary, Leaphart Elementary, Oak Point Elementary, Pinewoods Elementary, and Seven Oaks Park.

Therapeutic Recreation Program

Therapeutic Recreation programming is available at Seven Oaks Park and Crooked Creek Park for students with disabilities and special needs. Full-day programming is available on select student holidays.  Afterschool programming will be available Monday-Friday for those students attending school that same day.  Activities include socially-distanced recreation and organized physical activities, supervised homework time, arts and crafts, and an afternoon snack.  Registration is limited.

Safari/TR Program Goals:

  • To provide a flexible, developmentally-appropriate play and success-oriented program which complements the home and school by encouraging physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth as well as positive feelings of self-worth in a group setting.
  • To provide a warm, secure environment designed to encourage decision-making, problem-solving, individual expression, and freedom within limits, where children respect and enjoy each other in a group setting.
  • To provide a competent, caring and professional staff who understand and meet the needs of the children in our program.
  • To provide frequent and open communication with parents to provide support and encourage involvement.
