Congregate Meal Sites

At the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission, adults ages 60 and older are invited to enjoy fellowship and a hot, nutritious lunch each weekday at our congregate meal sites at Crooked Creek Park and Seven Oaks Park. Monday through Friday, guests can participate in games, light exercise, adapted sports, crafts, and educational programs before lunch. Free transportation is available for those who qualify, making it easy to join the fun (based on volunteer availability).

Home Delivered Meals

ICRC's Meals on Wheels program strives to help homebound seniors combat food insecurity and social isolation. Home-delivered meals are available for seniors who are homebound, live alone, or have difficulty preparing meals. Qualified individuals can receive a hot, nutritious meal delivered to their home Monday through Friday. Participants must be approved by the Central Midlands Council of Governments Area Agency on Aging. Meals are delivered by caring volunteers who also provide friendly visits and important wellness checks.

Meals on Wheels is a need- based program (qualification is not based on income) available to adults (ages 60 and older) who are experiencing any of the following:

  • Homebound
  • Have a chronic illness
  • Disabled
  • Poor nutrition score ( Central Midlands COG assesses each candidate)
  • Isolated
  • Unable to leave home unassisted
  • Unable to prepare/purchase food
  • At risk for institutionalization

If you or a loved one, friend, or neighbor, need assistance, please contact our parks to learn more.
