We’re incredibly grateful to the Mungo Homes Foundation for their generous gift of $30,000 to the Saluda Shoals Foundation in support of our Therapeutic Recreation (TR) programs, including the Palmetto Enrichment Program (PEP). We are honored to have been nominated and selected for this meaningful support. Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission’s Therapeutic Recreation programs are designed to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities in our community. We offer programs and activities for both children and adults with cognitive, physical, and behavioral disabilities. Our purpose is to create positive experiences that develop appropriate recreational and social skills that help participants become increasingly self-confident, courageous and independent. We want our participants to feel right at home and build relationships with staff and peers. PEP is a daytime enrichment program for special needs adults. Participants serve the community, enjoy adaptive recreation opportunities and foster friendships. This substantial gift will have a significant positive impact on our programming, enabling TR to expand opportunities and enhance the quality of existing programs. For 23 years, Holiday Lights on the River has been lighting up the Midlands and has become a beloved holiday tradition.
