Groundbreaking for the Saluda Shoals Riverwalk today at Saluda Shoals Park! Today marks a major milestone as we broke ground on the Saluda Shoals Riverwalk — an 8.5-mile multi-use paved path that will connect communities along the beautiful Lower Saluda River! This transformational project—made possible through strong community partnerships and support from organizations like Dominion Energy—will link Lexington, Irmo, Columbia, and beyond, offering safer, healthier, and more scenic transportation and recreation options. “This Riverwalk will create a space where people can walk, bike, and enjoy the natural beauty of the Lower Saluda River,” said ICRC Executive Director Mark Smyers. Thanks to our incredible community partners who helped make this vision a reality: Central Midlands Council of Governments, Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, County of Lexington, Dominion Energy, KBS Landscape Architecture, Midlands Business Leadership Group, State of South Carolina, Springhill Construction, The Mungo Foundation, and Wiley Easton Construction, Inc.
